Providing solutions for the Northbound Mainline Service 

Wakefield Westgate Station Staff & Customer Facilities

Funded by Network Rail and East Coast Rail through the government NSIP, Input group were approached to develop a scheme to facilitate the Northbound Mainline Service Platform with passenger facilities. This total internal refurbishment included waiting rooms DDA toilets, CIP (Customer Information Point) and staff facilities.

What was asked

This four month project involved the refurbishment of derelict stations areas along with the provision of new customer waiting facilities.

Work on this station required specialist strategic planning and project management; materials were difficult to get onto the platform and had to be specially craned from the adjacent road.

How We Did It

The Input Group designed, facilitated and implemented the solution to the overpopulated Northbound Mainline Service Platform. 

To cater for the heavy footfall we stripped out and saw to the internal remodeling of the existing buildings to create customer WC’s, waiting rooms, staff facilities, new offices and a Customer Information Point (CIP).
